In 2007 our charity started work on “Blue Vale”, a community housing project consisting of 18 homes and a children’s park. These houses were built specifically for young families who were either homeless or living in very cramped conditions. The intention was to give these families an opportunity to build a future for their children, at the same time we were very careful not to let them become too dependent on the charity, only offering extra help in special circumstances (sickness or disabilities etc). Happily the majority have made the most of that opportunity by taking good care of their homes and going out to work, where possible, to provide for their families.  This week we were very happy to permanently sign over eight of these houses (with clauses attached) to the families who have earned it the most!
