ENJOYING AN INDIAN SUMMER EVENING AT THE SUNDIAL IN BLACKROCK

As yet another stretch of good weather surprised many and turned last weekend into the Indian summer we could only ever wish for, never mind pray for its appearance. The climate provided an ideal backdrop for the Crosscause open air fundraiser that took place last Friday evening at the Sundial in Blackrock.

The idea for the fundraiser was the brainchild of Crosscause mainman Conor Hughes to help set up an orphanage in Ghana, who invited not only the Clan McCaul Irish Dancers, The Castlebellingham Ukulele Orchestra and the legendary Breakaways who were back together specially for the evening.

As the crowds started to gather I headed over to a group of ladies who included Angela McNally from Meadow Grove and sisters May Grant from Cedarwood Park and Connla Pritchard from Castlebellingham who was there with the Castlebellingham Ukulele Orchestra and who told me she’d be performing later on. The ladies told me it was a lovely evening for music and for such a good cause too.

Beside them I then got a word with Michael and Stephanie Cumiskey from Glenwood who told me they were there to support the cause and agreed it was a lovely evening for some live music.
